What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are substances designed to be injected beneath the surface of the skin to add volume and fullness. They are made up mostly of Hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in fluids and tissues in the body that add plumpness to the skin.
They are often used to increase volume in lips and cheeks or to hide the nasolabial lines that appear from the corner of the nose to the side of the mouth. They can also fill in shallow areas such as tear troughs.
The treatment is injected by a qualified and experienced clinician and there is usually no downtime but sometimes bruising can occur. The results usually last about 6 months, some can last longer depending on the size of filler used.
