Dental implants are an effective, long-lasting way to replace one or more missing teeth, and can offer an alternative to dentures. They can improve how you eat and speak, prevent shrinkage of the jawbone, and keep existing teeth firmly in place.
Implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed in the jawbone to act just like tooth roots. These posts eventually fuse with the bone, providing a firm foundation for a crown or bridge.
At Battersea Bridge Dental Practice, we only use premium implants and genuine components.
There are many implant systems available but we choose to use Nobel Biocare which are the company associated with the first ever dental implants Branemark. They have a long history of research and support. Please visit www.nobelbiocare.com for more information.
- We carry out a full assessment of your general and dental health.
- If you are suitable for treatment with implants, we will plan your treatment in accordance to the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (FGDP), the gold standard in the UK. This may include a scan of the jaw to measure the density.
- The titanium posts are carefully placed in the bone. As they are well tolerated and biocompatible, over a few months they fuse with the surrounding bone.
- Once settled and fully healed, we can fit custom made teeth to the now firmly positioned implants.
You need to maintain good oral hygiene following treatment to ensure your implants remain trouble-free. If well looked after, with a regular brushing and flossing routine.
